We used several MM students in the past when our children were small and all of the girls were fantastic. My wife and I run a recruiting company with offices at home and in Rosslyn. I recently broke my leg in several places and while not totally immobile I am greatly limited in what i can do, ie carrying anything, cooking laundry all the basics we share. I am looking for some daytime assistance, hours are flexible. Only medical assistance is helping change some minor dressings a few times a week; I have RN come at least twice a week to check on me. We have two boys at The Potomac School who can do the majority of the heavy lifting. Minor driving will be needed but we have a car if need be as I cannot drive. We live less than a mile from MM. My personal references will include several MM board members, President EMERITUS Matt Shank, AD Jamie Reynolds and Men's Lacrosse coach Jon Reynolds.
Thanks,
Please call text or email

Hi, We're looking for companion care/support on a very limited basis -- a great opportunity for a busy student who needs some extra spending money. My mom is a full-time resident at Manor Care Potomac. She has ongoing health issues but is mobile and has full cognitive skills for communication. However, she has hearing aids and can't go out alone. About once a month, she needs a companion to go with her on arranged transportation to medical appointments. We need someone to travel with her, take doctor notes and socialize with her a bit. We would cover all travel time as well as time with her. If helpful, we would also pay for a brief social visit once a month or less. We are willing to pay $20/hour. Thanks! Christine 3portugalboys@gmail.com 202-503-6546

Hello! We are looking for a caregiver - preferably a nursing student - to give our 5 year old son who has type 1 diabetes his lunchtime insulin shots this summer while he is at summer camp. We live about 1 mile from Marymount University's campus, and his summer camps are also located just a few minutes drive away. In general you would go to his camp around noon, test his blood sugar, dose and administer his insulin, and wait around about 15 minutes to make sure he eats all of his lunch. Days are Monday-Friday, but if you can do even a few days per week, that is fine. Summer camp will run Monday, June 24 through August 30. We are also looking for a new babysitter if you are interested in other hours.

Hi
Pursuing a degree and eventual career in PT, OT, SLP or early childhood development?
I'm looking for some part time babysitting for my two girls, ages 6 and 1.5. I will be working a few hours during the day M-F but I can be flexible with your class schedule. The care is mainly for our 1.5 year old as the older one is in school everyday. The 1.5 year old has some significant gross and fine motor delays so ideally I'd be very interested in finding a student pursuing a degree in early childhood development, occupational therapy, or physical therapy. It would be nice to have someone that can engage her with play at the house and outside activities, going to the park, walks with our dog, things to get her active, utilizing her muscles and walking independently. Would also be interested in evening time babysitting for both girls if my husband and I want to go out occasionally. Please email me if you're interested. We live in Falls Church. Must be comfortable with dogs.

Live-in aide needed for 22-year-old male. Very low-level of care. Compensation is free rent in a 2br/2ba apartment in exchange for services. Please keep reading!
About him: HS graduate with Aspergers, ADHD, & executive function issues. Diabetic. Extremely high functioning. Need somebody to provide light supervision and guidance developing healthy, responsible approach to living independently. Basically, an engaged roommate. You would work in close coordination with father to set goals and expectations. Level of care is low and you will be able to maintain other full-time employment or attend school in addition to serving in this role. There are no set hours. This is more about finding a person who is the right fit and can keep things on track over time.
You do not have to be a trained caregiver, but teachers or those with experience in the healthcare or behavioral health fields (or actively pursuing degrees in these fields) would be compelling candidates. Or maybe you're just a super-responsible college or grad student interested in helping others. Great opportunity to put this down as an internship if you're in studying psychology, social work, etc.
Among other things, the ideal candidate for this situation:
* Is flexible; * Is exceptionally organized; * Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills; * Feels it's important to keep a clean house; * Is both mentally and physically healthy; * Is a non-smoker and does not use drugs (light/social drinkers are OK); * Keeps a fairly regular schedule; and * Lives a healthy lifestyle including good sleep, eating, and fitness habits.
Please reply and be sure to tell me a bit about yourself including:
* Personal, professional, and educational background; * Current situation; * Why you are interested in this opportunity; * Why you think you might be a good fit; and * Anything else you think might be of interest.
A resume would also be appreciated!
Contact Steve at 571-215-0000 (yes, this is a real mobile number!).
