Hi! We live less than a mile from Marymount and are looking for an energetic, reliable, athletic guy to work out with our 17 year old son two afternoons a week. He is cognitively and intellectually typical (in fact he attends NOVA part time) but he struggles with reliable speech and motor planning. He needs someone to motivate him and encourage him in speed walking around the track, weight training and stretching. He uses a keyboard for in depth communication and is easy to be with but needs help with body work. Needed days are Mondays, Thursdays and possibly Sundays for 1.5-2.0 hours. Best time is after 3:00pm and pay is $20.00 an hour. This is a great job for a PT, special ed or physical fitness student.

Live-In Companion Position:
Hello
I am seeking a live-in companion for my 19-year old son, who is extremely high-functioning Asperger's and who will be moving into an apartment within the next 30-90 days. He is very articulate, insightful and friendly and attends school full time M-F. He will be beginning transitional/vocational classes in the next year and is expected to graduate in 2020. For the most part he needs a companion/room mate to ensure he gets out of the house on time for school/appts, takes medications, gets groceries and runs necessary errands as needed and gets out of the house for leisure/recreational activities. The apartment location is not confirmed yet but will be in Fairfax County and likely between the Fair Oaks and McLean/Falls Church areas.
Compensation: This position offers completely free rent and utilities in exchange for being available at key times of the day - and in the apartment during overnight hours - to ensure the general health and well-being of my son. i.e. make sure he leaves and returns home as expected, tends to household chores, eating etc. He does not require any support with Activities of Daily Living and the majority of support is considered 'companion' based. The schedule allows ample time for the live-in companion to be available for full time employment outside of the home. An hourly rate will be paid for a portion of the hours worked that exceed any non rent/utility related 'in kind' compensation. The only housing-related expenses incurred by the live in companion will be their own groceries/personal needs.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate might be a part-time student studying Psychology, Social Work, Special Education or a related field or be a young professional [preferably familiar with Asperger's/Developmental Delays] and live an alcohol and smoke-free lifestyle. Maturity, good judgement and flexibility are critical and candidate must not have a criminal record [must pass background check]. A valid driver's license and vehicle is nice but not critical as it would be helpful if companion could provide transportation to some appts. and running local errands [groceries, etc.] Any driving support provided will be reimbursed at Federal mileage reimbursement rate of .53/mile.
If you or someone you know may be interested in getting more information, please email me at coleenhs@gmail.com.

Hi! We are looking for 2 part-time or 1 full-time helper/nanny for our 6 month-old infant. We can be flexible on hours. We live just off Old Dominion Drive, about a 5 min drive to Marymount. We're an easy-going family looking for someone who loves to play with kids.
Our little 6 month-old has GERD (severe reflux). She recently had surgery to stop the vomiting but is still fed through a g-tube and, due to lung damage, is also on oxygen 24/7.
We are looking for someone who not only has experience with - or at least some training in - g-tube feeding (pump feeding) and pediatric patients on oxygen, but who is also genuinely interested in infant development. In other words, we need someone who can feel comfortable taking care of her medical needs while not forgetting that she is an otherwise normal, happy, curious little baby who needs lots of play and stimulation!
We also have three school-aged children. Our 9, 7 and 5 year-olds play a few sports, but are otherwise home in the afternoons. I am currently at home, so the ideal candidate(s) would also be happy to switch things around on occasion and help with the older three kids too!
Previous experience with kids and babies, references, a great attitude, and experience with (or training) in pediatric medical care are essential. We are also looking for someone who is playful with the kids, responsible, sensible and willing to jump into our relaxed but active family life.
Pay is $18-25/hour depending on experience and we are happy to set-up a formal employment arrangement for a full-time long-term contract.
If you are interested, please email me at lsnagoski@gmail.com or call (917) 685-7213.
Many thanks!
Lara

We need an after school buddy and coach.
Max is a happy, funny and generous 10-year-old with speech and developmental delays. He attends a special needs school which ends at 3 p.m. M, T, T, F and 1:45 p.m. on Wed. Max needs an after school friend and coach helping provide structured playtime and homework assistance. He has two neuro-normal younger brothers (8 and 6) who come home at 4 daily and don't need structured care, just an eye on.
We are looking for someone open to receiving coaching on behavioral therapy techniques from his psychologist, at our expense. We can provide a student in psychology, OT, PT, ST or education with some great experience. We need availability at our home from 3-6 M, T, T, F and 2:30-6 on Wed. I or my husband Chris will be home around 5 each day. 2-3 days/week would be ok.
Please contact me at katiebellegeorge@yahoo.com or 512-587-9043. We live near the Gulf Branch Nature Center, which looks to be 2 miles from Marymount Glebe campus.
Thanks, Katie

Free rent in brand new two-bedroom apartment close to Ballston Metro to provide caregiving for 30-year-old man on the autism spectrum. Hours of paid caregiving are Monday evening through Friday morning; 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm and 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Medicaid pays for caregiving. The current Medicaid rate is $11.93 an hour. Medicaid does not pay for hours he is asleep but free rent is in exchange for being in the apartment during overnight hours of 11:00 pm to 9:00 am Monday through Thursday nights. Time off can be arranged with parents.
The individual is quiet with good receptive language skills. He is intelligent and is able to communicate his needs and wants but does not engage in conversation. He needs help waking up, grooming, preparing breakfast, lunch and meeting his taxi outside the apartment at 8:30 am. He works recycling computers during the day Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. He spends his free time on the computer or iPad.
The apartment is an ideal location for a young student attending college in the area. The apartment is one block from Ballston Mall and a short walk to Ballston Metro. The individual is with his parents from Friday afternoon until Monday afternoon therefore you would have the apartment to yourself on weekends.
Please contact Sheila Billingsley at 571-296-9110 or via email at Sheila.Billingsley@gmail.com if interested.

We have three children, but our middle child (5 years old) is special needs. He has an undiagnosed neuro-genetic disorder, but he is ambulatory and can communicate (if not always perfectly). We are open to having part time assistance at various times throughout the week, individuals with a background in physical, speech and/or occupational therapy would be preferred, but to be honest we just need someone to watch/babysit him on a part time basis. We live across from Marymount and the Washington Country Club, within walking distance certainly. Please e-mail sethadamkreger@gmail.com or call 571-421-6029 if interested.

We are looking for weekend afternoon/evening help for our special needs 8 yr old son. He is a cheerful, hard-working boy who has a developmental delay and epilepsy ("staring spells" that happen occasionally usually in the morning). He loves to play, go for walks, have books read to him, and eat, and he complains when he is bored. He is not mobile, so he plays at seating "stations" in the house. He is also non-verbal, but you know his mood easily by his facial expressions and squeals. He needs help with eating (spoon feeding like a baby)/bathing/dressing etc.
We have a primary caregiver who works afternoons (2-8) p. m. Mon-Fri at our home in Burke, VA. We are looking for weekend coverage ~4-6h Sat and/or Sun, occasional vacations and possibly some weekday evenings. All the times are negotiable, and primarily to give his primary caregiver time off.
The pay rate is $11.93 per hour paid by Medicaid as a direct deposit to you and will require some paperwork including a background check.
If you are interested, please email me: betsy@jeremyseitz.com

Our 9-year-old daughter is affectionate and bonds easily with others. She loves Frozen, Tangled, Moana, the playground, reading, and learning. But she has significant motor challenges, is autistic, and does not talk. She uses alternative and augmentative communication methods. We are looking for a reliable, mature, and patient afternoon caregiver who will help to foster her ability to communicate effectively, to access grade-level and above curriculum, to get lots of exercise, to take her to some appointments, to engage with other children, and to otherwise help her have fun and develop. We will provide significant training and on-going support from a team of professionals, including previous caregivers; speech, occupational, and physical therapists; and communication and inclusion specialists.
- Hours are 3:30-7:30 p.m., Monday-Friday - We are looking for someone to begin immediately (mid-November, 2017). For the right candidate, this part-time position could lead to a full-time position in the spring or summer. - We live in North Arlington, near Washington-Lee High School (about 2 miles from Marymount). - Pay is $14-16/hour, depending on experience and paid through a payroll service.

If you are a commuter and live in the Fairfax area, we are looking for a care attendant to get our 16-year-old daughter with Down syndrome after school (2:50-6pm) and perhaps some weekend, evenings or respite care. We literally live across the street from her school. We recently participated in the Transitions Series put on by the ARC of NoVA there at Marymount in Arlington and my daughter had a great time with the student volunteers who spent most of two Saturdays with her. We can be somewhat flexible and are looking more for a companion that can oversee homework, provide social interaction and oversight with easy meal guidance to promote independence in this area. Our daughter is tech savvy and very talkative. Must like pets as we have 3 dogs and a cat. Pay is through the commonwealth and is $11.93 per hour. Attendants must be able to pass a background check and prove US citizenship. My daughter is a lot of fun and does like down time on her own so there is some ability to study at times while watching her, but we do want to hire someone who primarily likes interacting with teens and may even like to accompany our daughter to a gym or exercise classes. My daughter loves music and her Spotify. She also likes to draw and sing. Her favorite way to listen to music is to see the words while listening to the music. Two older sisters are available at times over the holidays to fill in as attendants so again there is flexibility. If this sounds like a job for you, you can reach me at 571-205-3651 or alaskanemecs@aol.com. My name is Maureen.
