Hello! We are seeking a sitter for nights and weekends (e.g. A Thursday and Saturday - not all the time but this is an example). Our son is 13 and our daughter is 10, so this is basically hanging out with the kids, light cooking-slash-microwaving, supervising the kids as they clean up from dinner, making sure they are in bed at right time and that they do not run off and join the circus. Possibly some driving to activities and friends' houses. We live near the intersection of Old Dominion and Kirby Rd in McLean. I (mom) teach at GW, moved to VA, and this is now need a Virginia babysitting posse. Both parents have own businesses and some college folks wind up interning with us. Open to questions. Hi i am interested in the position. Could you provide contact information?

Hi there! We are looking for an after-school babysitter for our 8YO daughter at our house in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria (22305), preferably starting February 21. Ideally, we need help Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 2:30 to 6:30pm, although there is some flexibility on those hours. We need someone to pick her up from school, which is less than a mile from our house, hang out while she plays on the playground, bring her home, feed her snack, and generally hang out, help with (minimal) homework etc. No need to stay at our house, although you would be welcome to do so - you would be free to go on adventures too. We live on a really friendly street with lots of kids who play outside after school. We also have a 6YO daughter who is in school all-day in DC, so wouldn't need watching, except occasionally. We have an easy-going goldendoodle, so comfort with dogs is a must. And, you would need a car. Our current babysitter would be happy to talk to you about the position. If you are interested, please email mckee.greene@gmail.com - or text 202-256-8434. Thanks, Carolyn

I’m starting the process of finding a summertime sitter for my two sons ages 11yo and 8yo in Annandale (inside the beltway near Mason District Park) weeks of June 26, July 3, July 17, and July 24 to accommodate swim & tennis team season. (Excluded is July 10-14 week due to vacation.) I primarily need late morning and afternoon care to include transportation from the pool, which is about 1-2 miles from our house. This would entail the sitter having his/her great references, your own car, good driving record, etc. and would be between 30-35, in some cases 40 hours/week. Preference is to college student or other adult who can arrive to our pool around 10:30am, after their practices are over (11ish) then bring them back to our house for lunch and something to do over the afternoon until about 5pm. We could go hourly rate or something weekly. I don’t want their afternoons sitting in front of Xbox or phones 100%, etc but instead do something engaging. You could always go back to the pool for the afternoon, too. The boys are well behaved and respectful, and also fun. We could also add some hours in the evenings before school gets out, late May-June 23rd for getting them from school over to afternoon swim team practice. I’m fairly flexible, and if you’d like something hourly only 10:30a-1pm with transportation, and I put them in afternoon camp, I can go that route too. Please email me if interested tobinj318@cox.net with your rates and info for references, etc. Thanks!

Our family is in search of a part-time babysitter (number of hours negotiable) in our McLean home for our 6 and 8 year old children. Ideally we would like the person to be available three afternoons a week for a total of 15 to 18 hours. We are flexible on hours and days of the week for the right person. Responsibilities will include: preparing and feeding easy meals (dinner only), laundry and light housekeeping, driving (we will provide the vehicle) to and from activities, help with homework and other child related needs. Strong English (verbal and written) skills are necessary. We are flexible on the staring date and salary is negotiable based on experience. This opportunity is perfect for someone going to school. We are looking for a sitter for our three children, ages 11 (boy), 10 (girl) and 4 (boy). We'd like someone who is available one or two afternoons a week (likely Wednesday or Thursday, but flexible) to pick up our older son at bus stop and younger son at preschool then bring them home to play with them. (Our 11 year old is pretty self sufficient, would just need help with a snack before doing homework on his own.) Most afternoons, I will be in Great Falls with my daughter who horseback rides. Hours are roughly 3:00 (for 3:30 bus pick up in McLean) - 6:30 p.m. We live very close to Marymount and have had three wonderful Marymount nursing students work for us over the past 10 years or so. Ideally, we'd like to hire someone who also has occasional evening availability. Must have own car/ clean driving record. Please feel free to contact me at anne@ortmans.co if you are interested. Thank you!
